Shri Gujarati Samaj has made a significant impact on the educational landscape of Indore, with a rich history spanning over a century that reflects the dedication and sacrifice of its founders. In the early 20th century, a few Gujarati families settled in Indore, seeking better livelihoods. Recognizing the lack of a Gujarati medium school, they opened a small school in 1922 on Jail Road with just 8-10 students.  This initiative grew from a simple desire to preserve their language and culture into a broader mission to provide quality education.  Change into Hindi words Over the years, the Samaj established numerous educational institutions, evolving from primary schools to colleges across various disciplines. Today, it operates nine colleges and six schools, serving approximately 22,000 students with the support of around 1,100 educators and staff. The Samaj has also ventured into the medical field, founding a Homeopathy Medical College and Research Center, alongside vocational courses in professional colleges. Notable expansions include the B.Ed. College launched in 2005 and the Shri Gujarati Samaj Innovative College of Commerce and Science in 2006. The community’s contributions extend beyond education, as the Samaj supports women’s empowerment through free tailoring training and financial assistance. It has been recognized by the MP Minority Commission as an educational institution serving the Linguistic Minority Community. In addition to educational initiatives, Shri Gujarati Samaj organizes various cultural exchange programs and operates charitable services, including ambulance services and healthcare centers. The R.R. Contractor Guest House, accommodating 200 travelers, further demonstrates the Samaj’s commitment to community service. At its core, the Samaj embodies the spirit of selfless service, continually striving to uplift and support its community.
